I grew up in Libertyville, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago. After graduating from Libertyville High School, I moved out to Cambridge, MA to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I graduated in June 2006 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering as well as with teaching certification in secondary (8-12) mathematics. In August 2006 I began graduate work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE). I work with Dr. Andrew Alleyne in the Alleyne Research Group (ARG). In addition to my research, I am the president of MechSE Graduate Women, a graduate student organization dedicated to supporting the female graduate students in the MechSE Department.
